The power pop antics of Sayhitolisa began in 1995 when two recovering New York speed metal fanatics relocated to Boston after graduating from college. Originally consisting of John Damask (guitar/vocals) and Robert Gaggin (drums/vocals), the duo began performing their inspirations of Tom Waits and Simon & Garfunkel at various open mic coffeehouses. Eventually recruiting Justin Day on bass and vocals, Sayhitolisa progressed into their power pop sound and put out three EPs -- Everybody Hates Everybody (1995), It's Time to Believe Again (1996), and Special Me (1997) -- and a split EP with Inhale Mary. Cactus Records eventually released the bands' first full-length, Dali Ravioli, in March of 2000.
